Weekly Reflection 8
This week we worked on InDesign, which I am still really enjoying. We learned how to make business cards and cover letter, which I think are both very beneficial to know how to use. Learning about advertisements and brochures were also just has much helpful. The InDesign Composite was one of the more challenging composites I thought. We had to have so much information into one assignment so it was hard to come up with everything. All in all this week was good and beneficial for learning about this program.

Graphic Design Terms
Unity
Unity is a design element that brings balance and harmony to a work of art. When there is unity there is a sense of completion, and it is pleasing to the eye. To achieve unity you have to have similar colors and shapes throughout the work, fonts have to flow together, proximity of the shapes, repetition, and continuation.
A good example of unity:
Consistency
Consistency is similar to repetition and unity because it brings balance and harmony to a work of art.

This advertisement for coke shows unity with the colors and shapes and text it uses throughout the entire picture.

It is consistent with the people that make out the man, and the colors all work really well together and are consistent throughout the entire advertisement.

Weekly Reflection 7
This week we worked on the Illustrator Composite. I enjoyed this composite a lot more than the Photoshop one. The tutorials were very helpful, and I liked how creative you can be with Illustrator. Also, it was fun making a real logo that my brother can actually use for his business.

Analyzing Logos
Most
Americans know what Starbucks is, but if you don’t their logo is very informative
and straight to the point. Everyone knows that iconic goddess woman on every
coffee cup. Also, they are always consistent with their color green that is
always associated with Starbucks coffee. In this logo they display the name of
the company, the symbol, which is the woman, and then the text Coffee, which
tells us what the product is. Also, the use of stars is one of their symbols,
and it is consistent throughout this logo with the star on the woman’s head and
the two stars on the sides of the circle. I think one of the great features of
this logo is how everything is rounded to flow with the circle. The text and
the woman are both draw on a curve to flow and unify the circle logo.
Weekly Reflection 6
This week was fun! The assignments are getting more challenging, but with spring break next week it is easier to get them done. I love Illustrator, and I have been eager to learn more on my own time about the tools and options.
Weekly Reflection 5
This week I really enjoyed. I thought it was a lot of fun learning more about Illustrator and all the paint and pen tools. I also loved creating new colors and gradients. Creating colors and gradients makes the images more custom.

Weekly Reflection 4
This week we worked on our Photoshop mini project, and I have to say it sort of scared me at first. Once I started working on it I realized that I had learned more than I thought and I could actually apply all of those tools and effects to my project. There is still a lot to learn, but overall I enjoyed working in Photoshop and I feel like I could work on it by myself now.

Weekly Reflection 3
This week was good I loved learning about how many different text effects there are! I started out using a 3D metal effect and quickly changed my mind because it was way to complicated. I used a simple gradient text effect and I used the same theme that I am using for another class.
Text Effect Tutorial
This is a simple and easy text effect I found.

Weekly Reflection 1
This week was really fun! I loved getting to learn all about photoshop even though it is frustrating at times. I really loved editing the photos, and changing the colors of all the pictures. I am excited about seeing everything I learn come together when we get to start being more creative.
Weekly Reflection 2
This week has been a little more frustrating with the postcard. On Monday I had more trouble than the week before just figuring all of the tools out. I am finally seeing it come together after some difficulty, but it has still been fun!

Photograph Assignment
I chose this photo, because I thought it was a great example of the photo composition, framing. The arch way perfectly frames the giant building with a similar shape as the arch. This is a JPEG file and, so therefore the photo is lossy.
This photo is such a great example of simplicity. It is just a photo of a landscape with nothing really distracting the beauty of the picture. Also, it being black and white I feel like it makes it even more simplistic. This photo is also a JPEG, so it is a lossy photo.
This photo is pretty funny considering there are tree branches sticking out of the heads of two men in the photo. This is a bad example of subject background, because the branches are so distracting from the people in this picture. This photo is JPEG and it is lossy, because it is smaller and some of the quality was lossed in the process.

Examples of Balance
I choose this picture as an example of good balance, because it is horizontally symmetrical. This ad really catches your eye, because of the exact opposition of the hands, box, and vase.
I choose this advertisement as my example of bad balance, because the picture is so weighted on one side. The color, wording, and sidewalk are all emphasized on the left side and there is nothing on the right to balance the picture out.
